OGITECH Hosts Maiden Registry Workshop to Boost Administrative Capacity

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has taken a significant step toward strengthening institutional administration with the successful hosting of its first-ever Annual Registry Workshop.

The four-day event, held between March 31 and April 3, 2026, at the Prince Dapo Abiodun Twin Lecture Theatre, attracted registry personnel, administrators, and stakeholders from various higher institutions across Nigeria. The workshop focused on enhancing professional competence and addressing the evolving demands of modern educational administration.

Declaring the workshop open, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, highlighted the indispensable role of the Registry in institutional success. He described it as the engine room of administration, emphasizing that the efficiency of any higher institution largely depends on the competence and adaptability of its registry staff. According to him, continuous training and skill development remain essential in navigating the changing landscape of higher education.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Ayotunde Odulaja, commended the Rector’s leadership and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to initiatives that promote institutional growth. He urged participants to fully utilize the opportunity provided by the workshop to enhance their skills and improve service delivery.

In her remarks, the Acting Registrar and workshop convener, Mrs. Sakirat Olajumoke Johnson, described the initiative as a strategic move to reinforce the administrative framework of higher institutions. She stressed the importance of reskilling and upskilling, noting that advancements in technology and shifting policy environments require registry professionals to remain proactive and innovative.

With the theme, “Contemporary Higher Education Registry: The Imperatives of Reskilling and Upskilling,” the workshop featured a range of sessions designed to equip participants with relevant knowledge and practical insights. Experts in higher education administration, including keynote speaker Dr. Omojola Awosusi, a former Registrar of Ekiti State University, delivered lectures on emerging trends and best practices in registry operations.

The event also witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including principal officers of the institution, traditional rulers led by the Oloja-Ekun of Igbesaland, Oba Abdul-Azeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, as well as members of both the academic and administrative community.

A major highlight of the workshop was the recognition of three individuals for their outstanding contributions to educational development. Those honoured include Pastor (Mrs.) Funmilayo Bolanle Adeleke, Engr. Olatunji Akinosi, a member of the House of Representatives, and Hon. Yusuf Kamorudeen Olawale, Personal Assistant on Special Duties to the President.

The workshop concluded with participants engaging in interactive sessions and discussions aimed at improving institutional processes and fostering collaboration across institutions. Attendees were encouraged to implement the knowledge gained to enhance efficiency in their respective roles.

The successful hosting of the maiden Registry Workshop underscores OGITECH’s commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in administrative service delivery.
